Seeking: Service Technician

Marshall Food Equipment Service is seeking a qualified Service Technician to diagnose and repair a variety of commercial kitchen equipment in the field. This type of equipment includes but is not limited to: ovens, ranges, fryers, griddles, toasters, food warmers, coffee brewing equipment, dish machines, deli slicers, and other related equipment. The service territory includes Rhode Island and surrounding Massachusetts and Connecticut areas.


Note: Wage depends upon experience.


Job Qualifications Include:


  • Strong command of electrical principles and an ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams to troubleshoot equipment failures
  • Understanding and/or experience in servicing natural gas and LP gas equipment is a plus
  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Previous experience as a service technician repairing restaurant equipment, appliances, and HVAC
  • Trade school diploma is a plus but not required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance eligibility
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal alien status
  • Ownership of basic hand tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, a hammer, pliers, a wire cutter, and a crimper
  • Able to lift objects up to 50 lb. independently


Responsibilities Include:


  • Diagnosing kitchen equipment failures and repairing them according to factory specifications
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance
  • Communicating key information to the Service Dispatch and Parts Department
  • Providing 24/7 on-call service in a rotation with fellow service technicians
  • Keeping a service van in good operating condition by informing management of any mechanical problems, regular maintenance, and doing routine exterior washes and interior cleaning/vacuuming
  • Willingness to study and become CFESA-certified in Electric, Gas, and Steam
  • Adherence to all company policies and safety procedures
